Coding like crazy
It's been a couple of months now at Georgia tech and I have been coding like crazy. Besides this Jay Bolter and Janet Murray are giving some excellent classes. It has been fun!
Besides this we have been reading a lot of texts I haven’t read before but are important. Texts by Douglas Engelbart, Theodor Nelson, Langdon Winner, Bill Nichols, Joseph Licklider and many others. This first semester it is mostly Jay Bolter and Janet Murray that are teaching us. It is awesome to have classes with the Professors whose texts I used to read.
Also, I have to admit there are some pretty brilliant students here. There is one guy from China and he has amazing programming skills. He creates the coolest Augmented Reality apps and just the other day he created a 3D data visualization tool in which the user can move around and see Flickr info. I am not going to try to explain what it exactly does, it will do no justice. Jutst believe me when I say every student in that classroom did not know what to say…
I hope to put my projects online soon. One of the first things we had to do here was create an online portfolio. Although my site is ready I haven’t put it online yet. Maybe in my next update on my adventures at Georgia Tech I will be able to provide a link to my portfolio so you can see some of the projects or even mess around with them. If you want to know more or have any question please feel free to email me or send me a tweet at @mediawetenschap .
