This internship report describes my work at MediaLAB Amsterdam for the iNDiViDUALS project. During the last five months, our team of four worked with the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and The International Soundlings Collective to innovate for the runway during Amsterdam Fashion Week.

The decision is less about technology, it is rather a decision on cultural freedom and the free market. Software patents will stifle economic growth and innovation, they are used by monopolistic companies to regulate markets and to rule out competitors.

The directive on software patents and restrictive copyrights is a major threat to innovation and cultural freedom in Europe. Unfortunately the EU Commission succeeded in adopting the directive that is widely criticized. In an undemocratic act the Commission adopted the software patent directive against the will of various member countries.
