Graag nodigen we iedereen uit voor de eerste bijeenkomst van Skip Intro, een nieuw initiatief vanuit de Master Nieuwe Media & Digitale Cultuur. Skip Intro is een voornamelijk ad-hoc georganiseerde serie bijeenkomsten waarin wetenschappers, kunstenaars, politici en professionals korte lezingen en presentaties geven over hedendaagse kwesties waarin nieuwe media een rol spelen.

We are aware of services such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and of course Google, collecting vast amounts of data. Users dump petabyte of data on the servers of file hosters, and governments are also not sitting on their hands when it comes to data retention. The availability of low cost storage space combined with with technologies allowing the production and distribution of larger audio, video and image files, let alone the possibilities to monitor all kind of traffic and gather information constitute a data void that will be a challenge to navigate and analyse.
